Micro-Impingement Coolers

MC2 offers a line of high performance water-cooled copper mounts for high power electronics and laser diodes. These heatsinks incorporate advanced micro-impingement cooling circuits to dramatically improve thermal performance. These coolers offer:

These micro-impingement coolers offer unparalleled thermal efficiency, providing extremely low thermal resistances at very modest pumping powers. The coolers are compact, robust, and easy to work with in a laboratory or production environment. They are tough - well equipped to withstand laboratory, industrial and military use. Soldering and brazing to the coolers is not a problem - they can survive extended exposure at temperatures up to 1500°F. The coolers can be fabricated in a variety of 2D shapes and sizes, and customizing a design is not a problem.

The micro-impingement coolers are currently available in four external packages, each with any of three internal cooling designs, for a total of 12 configurations. The external packages designated as SA-X, where X is the package number. The internal cooling design is designated either A, B, or C, with A having the best thermal performance but the greatest hydraulic resistance, while C has the lowest hydraulic resistance and comparatively modest (~ 0.08 K-cm2/W) thermal performance. Custom Designs. MC2 has provided customers with a variety of custom cooling designs for military systems and commercial products. Our micro-impingement cooling technology has been used for relatively exotic applications such as leading edges for hypersonic vehicles and combustion chambers for rocket engines. This design and fabrication flexibility can be harnessed to meet even the most challenging design requirements. Larger coolers, coolers with specialty surface features, coolers with unusual exterior shapes, or coolers with customized internal cooling circuits can be developed quickly and at low cost. Typical customization options include:
