HYPER-X Leading Edge Test Models

Micro Cooling Concepts' employees developed a prototype leading edge for NASA/Langley's HYPER-X hypersonic test bed vehicle, building two prototypes during the program. These prototypes, shown above, had 0.030" nose radii, and were roughly 4" x 4" in planform area.

    • Steady-State Heating Up to 1.2 kW/cm2
    • Water Coolant (single-phase desirable)
    • Nose radius = 0.030", Wedge Angle = 3.25 degrees
    • 300 psi Allowable Pressure Drop
